Keeping you up to date
May 3, 2007
It has been a busy first three months of 2007 first we had a very special Australia Day Ceremony at Liverpool then we had our head down working on the 2007 Italian Festa on Norton - our fourth. Festa was a great success this year with some wonderful new features including a Cooking Demonstration Stage where we served some 500 samples of fabulous Italian cooking by our stars - Nonni in Cucina. Although the weather wasn't terrific huge crowds ignored that and still came to enjoy the day.
Immediately following Festa came the third Acoustica Festival this year beginning on 15 April with performances at venues all over Balmain with a spectacular free all day concert at the beautiful Birchgrove oval.
After 5 hours of great music we finally got rained out and the last three acts didn't get on however they all went back to Jim Conway's home and held a huge jam until midnight so everybody was happy - except maybe the neighbours.
Now we have begun preparation on the Burwood Festival (16 September 2007). This year we had to go to open tender - we won it against about 60 applicants!
Also we begin preparations for the prestigious Australasian Annual Report Awards which is in it 57th year. This event presents awards for the best prepared and presented Annual Reports. This year's Awards event is being held at the Grand Hyatt in Melbourne on 7 June 2007.
If you are interested in attending simply go to www.arawards.com.au and register your interest.
Once again IMC has been commissioned to produce the Wentworth Courier Business Excellence Awards which last was transformed from a small suburban event to a glittering spectacular black tie occasion. Stand by for the announcement of the event date.
The other big event this year is the Italian Connection Rally 5-7 October 2007. This is an event that will link the two most famous Little Italys - Norton Street Leichhardt NSW and Lygon Street Carlton Victoria.
The rally will leave Norton Street at 11.00 am on 5 October and travel to via Tumut over the Snowy Mountains to Myrtleford finally arriving at Lygon Street about 2.00 pm on Sunday 7 October.
The rally will include every conceivable style of Italian vehicle from Fiat to Ferrari, Lambretta's to Lamborghinis. All Italian Classic and Modern cars and bikes are welcome. There will be a limit of 80 vehicles competing.
Registrations open on Monday 28 May. If you would like to get more information call Robert Gunn (02) 9544 1537. The IC website www.italianconnectionrally.com.au is currently being finalised.
Finally Robert Gunn Principal of IMC and Producer of an extraordinary number of events over three decades (check out the rest of the IMC website) is going to share his experience and expertise with aspiring event producers and coordinators. The first full day seminar will be held in Sydney and will have limited numbers, the date and venue will be announced shortly - if you are interested in attending call IMC to reserve your place.
